South Florida will likely be looking for a new head football coach this offseason. Alex Golesh has been linked to multiple jobs. It seems a deal with one particular suitor is imminent.
Arkansas is reportedly locked in on the Bulls coach. He is rumored to be headed to Fayetteville in the very near future.
Golesh has been with USF for three seasons dating back to 2023. His most recent campaign has been his most impressive.
The Bulls are 8-3 with a win over instate foe Florida. He’s expected to buoy success into a promotion.

The coach is the Razorbacks‘ top target. Some have gone as far as to say that a deal is in place.
The move to Arkansas makes sense for a number of reasons. Most notably, it would provide a bump in pay and an opportunity to compete in the SEC.
At USF, he makes $2.5 million annually. Contract incentives are also included, one of which proved impossible to achieve.
Golesh was promised an extra $1 million had the Bulls joined a power conference while at the helm. The school failed to deliver. The Bulls remain in the American Conference with no realignment options on the horizon. The only way to step up is to leave.
The financial advantages at Arkansas are clear, but a move would also allow him to bring his family back home.
Golesh was born in Moscow, but moved to New York, and later Ohio as a child. He met his wife, Alexis, in 2008 while coaching as an assistant at Oklahoma State. They married a year later.
Alexis is from Arkansas. She visits often. Should her husband accept the gig with the Razorbacks, she’ll be that much closer to home.
With that said, the ink is not on the paper. Alex Golesh is not Arkansas’s football coach at the time of this writing.
Mystery surrounds his future due to contrasting reports on social media.
I am not saying he will, but Golesh thinks he is getting the Ole Miss job if Kiffin leaves. Hogs never interviewed him.

Otis Kirk of Hogville reported that an interview had not even taken place. Golesh was instead holding out for the Ole Miss job.
South Florida provided a bit of clarity on the situation Wednesday to clear the air. A deal is not done, but the school is bracing for an exit.
USF provides an update.
Since Saturday’s game, Coach Golesh has been presented with outside opportunities that he has been transparent about with us. We are respectful and supportive of Coach and his family in their decision making process. We’ll remain in constant communication. Bulls Nation, rest assured, we are ultra prepared for every scenario that could unfold in the coming hours/days. Our commitment and investment has never been higher and we’re also laser focused on being great stewards of our resources. Most importantly, the future of USF Football has never been more bright! Go Bulls!
Higgins shut down rumors that Golesh has already signed a deal. He did admit that the coach is receiving interest.
Golesh has been transparent with administration and players throughout the process. As a result, South Florida has time to prepare. They will not be blindsided by a departure.
Even with Higgins’ update, the writing appears to be on the wall. We can likely expect an announcement on Alex Golesh’s future in the coming days.
