The Vanderbilt Commodores picked up another huge win in SEC play on Saturday, besting Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium. It was a dominant defensive performance from the ‘Dores, who held the Tigers to just seven points on the day.

After the win, Vandy celebrated on Auburn’s home field while brutally trash talking their opposition. They made sure the Tigers heard about the upset victory!

Vanderbilt might’ve entered as underdogs, but they quickly let Hugh Freeze and Co. that they’d be in for a test. Freeze said before the game that the Commodores’ roster was “lesser” than Auburn’s. The final score didn’t reflect it!

Vandy never trailed in the contest, and they outscored the Tigers 10-0 in the second half to leave with a 17-7 win.

Quarterback Diego Pavia improved to a perfect 3-0 against Coach Freeze, and 2-0 against Auburn after beating the Tigers on this same field as a member of the New Mexico State football program in 2023.

Pavia threw for two touchdowns on the day, one of which proved to be the dagger with four minutes remaining in the matchup. His teammates let the Tigers hear about it after the fact.

It was far from the only trash talking done on the Vanderbilt side. Linebacker Bryan Longwell reminded the Tigers of what they missed out on after cutting him from their 2023 recruiting class. Longwell tallied four tackles on Saturday.

The win over Auburn represented the second massive upset over an Alabama school as they’d already taken down the Crimson Tide, 40-35.

The Commodores continue to surprise in the SEC and have now improved to 6-3 on the season to ensure bowl eligibility. They’ll face off against South Carolina next week as they look to pick up a fifth win in six games.
