Auburn Tigers have a lot to be excited about with four-star running back commit Alvin Henderson.

Sure the Tigers may have gone just 6-7 in the first year under new head coach Hugh Freeze. But Freeze inked signed the No. 8 recruiting class in the country in 2024 according to 247Sports and boasts the No. 5 recruiting class in the country in the 2025 cycle thus far.

Henderson, an Alabama native, is one of the jewels of that 2025 class. The 5-foot-9, 200-pound back had offers from all over the country. And he showed why on Friday night, rushing for a jaw-dropped 435 yards and 10 touchdowns on 40 carried.

Both the yards and touchdowns were single-game records in the state of Alabama. But despite his stadout performance, somehow his team lost, 80-78.

Henderson initially committed to Penn State in the spring. But he flipped his commitment to the home-state Tigers on June 21.

Cooper Petanga of 247Sports gave Henderson a glowing review in his scouting report.

“A sudden runner that demonstrates the ability to play in both a power or zone scheme, the Alabama native exhibits excellent short area burst and separation quickness at the second level to create space between defenders,” Petanga said of Henderson. “Plays with good play strength and physicality, plus shows the ability to consistently play through contact. Has a knack for finding hidden yardage between the tackles, utilizing patience and contact balance but also possesses the elusiveness and long speed to create explosive plays in the open field. An extremely productive rusher with an uncanny combination of vision, short area quickness, and burst between the tackles, Henderson projects as a high level multi-year starter at a Power Four program with the ability to contribute sooner rather than later in an early down role”

Big numbers in high school don’t necessarily mean a player is going to excel at the college level. But it’s hard not to look at what Henderson has done at the high school level and not get a little excited if you’re an Auburn fan.
