Though born in northern California, Ben Affleck’s family moved to Massachusetts when he was just three years old and he has been a committed New England Patriots for his entire life, as every kid from the greater Boston area is. And as a guest on the latest episode of the New Heights Podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Ben Affleck shared a Tom Brady story which he recalls as the second greatest moment of his life.
A father of two, Ben Affleck was very diplomatic in calling his chance to ‘play in the Super Bowl’ with Tom Brady the ‘second greatest day’ of his life. He wouldn’t want his kids who are famously critical of him to call out dad for saying this was more special than their birth… But c’mon, we know.
Like a truly wealthy person, Ben Affleck tells his vacation story with Tom Brady without revealing the location. Rich people love to tell you where they vacation while wealthy people shudder at the thought of revealing their secret oases to the public. But Ben says he ran into the G.O.A.T. on vacation and it all came together:
Not to be lost in this is the fact that Tom Brady was getting prepared for the season, so Ben Affleck got the real treatment. He wasn’t just catching lobbed passes from Tom on the beach, Brady was getting locked in.
After hearing Ben Affleck tell his Tom Brady story I find myself wondering if this is something Tom does often with people like Ben or his son’s kids. Like when his son’s friends are over tossing around a football and they scrimmage a little, is this a scenario Brady pulls out of his back pocket so that Average Joe’s have a lifelong story about hanging with Brady? One has to wonder…
Also, I find myself wondering how jealous Travis and even Jason are that they never got this opportunity. Travis Kelce catches passes from Mahomes who is obviously the heir-apparent to Brady’s legacy as the G.O.A.T. but still has a LONG way to go before catching Tom… But they can never say they got to catch a pass in a ‘Super Bowl’ from Tom Brady and that’s something that Ben Affleck sort of can, or at least he has this incredible story about it.
