Many people mocked the selection of Bo Nix when the Denver Broncos selected him with the 12th pick in April’s 2024 NFL Draft. Most thought it was a huge reach for a quarterback that wouldn’t turn out to be a franchise player.
Denver head coach Sean Payton made it clear soon after the draft that he believed the franchise had the right guy, So far, it appears that he was right, as Bo Nix has played himself into some elite company.
Bo Nix started the season off poorly, throwing four interceptions and no touchdowns through the team’s first two games as the Broncos went 0-2. Since, he’s improved pretty much every week.
The last two weeks have been particularly fantastic. In wins against the Falcons and the Raiders, Nix is 53/75 for 580 yards, 6 touchdowns, and no interceptions. He’s in complete command of the offense, and the high-level accuracy and ability to quickly deliver the ball that showed up on his college film at Auburn and especially Oregon is really translating.
Just how good has Bo Nix been? Take a look at this graphic.

The other four guys are going to be unanimous selections to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There’s no guarantee Bo Nix will become that level of player. Frankly, he has a ways to go. But, it’s hard to deny that he’s not off to a great start.
Not only is Nix playing well, but he has the Broncos in position to make the playoffs. Currently, Denver has a 1 1/2 game lead for the final Wild Card spot in the AFC.
The Broncos are on Monday Night Football next week, which means Bo Nix will have an opportunity to put on a show in front of a large national audience.
