Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton was involved in a sideline exchange on Sunday with rookie signal caller Bo Nix. The duo was shown screaming at one another following an incomplete pass that ended an offensive drive.

The frustrating moment was captured during the NFL broadcast, leading to questions after the game.

Nix was seen shouting at Payton as he walked to the bench in the third quarter of play, prompting a fiery response from his head coach. The details of that argument remain unclear, whether it was related to play call, execution, or something different.

One thing that is for sure – it was heated!

Searching for clarity on the situation, media members asked Sean Payton about the conversation after the team’s 34-18 win over the Raiders. Here’s what he had to say:

“There’s still a little bit of Ferris Bueller in this player that we’ve got to get rid of, and I’m talking about Bo. I love him to death. Sometimes it’s my love language.”

When asked if he’d dish on what was said, he maintained secrecy.

“Absolutely not,” he said.

Bo Nix offered a similar response, though he provided a laugh with his reply.

This is nothing new for Sean Payton and his quarterbacks. These instances have been prevalent dating back to his time in New Orleans with Drew Brees. In that case, things worked out for the best as the duo won a Super Bowl.

That wasn’t the case last year in Denver.

The relationship between Payton and Russell Wilson soured, ultimately leading to the passer’s benching and subsequent exit from the Mile High City.

Bo Nix seems to have no issue with the coaching approach as he was able to shake off the disagreement and lead his team to victory.

The Broncos now finds themselves on a three-game winning streak as they moved to 3-2 on the season. These exchanges will remain a “nothing-burger” so long as the wins continue to pile up.
