Sideline reporters play an important role in the broadcast of the game. They are right down on the field and can give a level of insight on things happening in real time that a broadcast booth simply can’t give further away from the action.
Sometimes, they provide some really funny moments too, as they can be more in tune with what’s going on in the stands, as well. That’s exactly what happened during Monday’s Braves-Blue Jays game.
Atlanta Braves sideline reporter Wiley Ballard has been covering the Braves for five seasons now in a variety of roles, and is doing the sideline reporting for the Fanduel Sports Network this season. On Monday in the midst of a Braves blowout of the Blue Jays, they did a segment called “The Field Report” and hilarity ensued. Take a look.

That is a diabolical way to get a number. The odds of her saying no on television are pretty much slim-to-none and he had to have known that.
There’s a chance that this becomes a subplot to the Braves season all year. If these two start going on dates, fans are going to want updates.
Who knows, maybe this will spur on the Braves like Grimace throwing out the first pitch spurred on the Mets last season. Atlanta was 4-11 heading into Monday’s 8-4 win.
