Actress Brenda Song, who has recently been in the headlines for her scene-stealing performance on the Netflix series Running Point, has been going viral for her thorough knowledge of the defensive scheme that the Los Angeles Rams run. In the viral clip, Song not only sounds like an informed fan but a pseudo general manager.
While on the promotional tour for her new Netflix series Running Point — which also stars Kate Hudson, Justin Theroux and even Chet Hanks — Brenda Song was fielding questions from fans when she was specifically asked what she would’ve done to slow down Saquon Barkley in the NFC Divisional Round.
The Los Angeles Rams were the only team to come close to beating the Philadelphia Eagles in their run to the Super Bowl, as they lost by just six points and had an opportunity to take the lead with 30 seconds remaining.
“Let me tell you, Chris Shula [Rams’ defensive coordinator],” Song, appearing on Mythical Kitchen, began her rant. “I like you a lot. I like what you’ve done with our front four. But my issue is: We don’t have a run-stopper. We don’t use our middle linebackers in the middle. We can’t stop the run.”
Song’s knowledge wasn’t just reserved to the defensive side of the ball, however, as she also teed off on the Rams offense.
“Let’s talk about Mike LaFleur, our OC, about our O-line and why Jalen Carter sacked Matthew Stafford,” she added. “The Philadelphia score should have been 28-29 and the Rams should have been — we would have murdered the Commanders. Sorry, Jayden Daniels, but we would have been in the Super Bowl.”
Given that most people would not expect the actress who once played London Tipton on the Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody to have such thorough ball knowledge, Song’s comments obviously went viral on social media.
“Whole childhood is changed now that we know that London Tipton knows ball like this,” one tweet with over 5 million views joked.
Another viral tweet — which uses a copyrighted photograph so we can’t embed it here — turned Song’s comments into one of those social media graphics that usually feature a photo of an athlete/coach and something they said and raced up over 33,000 likes.
