Briley King is “scared” to release a solo album even though she has a better singing voice than a large number of female artists in country music right now. The wife of Marcus King can really belt it!
In fact, she recently out-sang one of the all-time greats.
Reba McEntire, a country music legend, wishes she could sing like Briley King. Yeah, I said it!
Who is Briley King?
Briley Hussey hails from a small town in North Carolina. She became Briley King when she married her husband, Marcus, in February 2023 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.
Marcus King might be the best guitar player on the planet right now. He melted my face during a surprise performance with Mt. Joy earlier this year but that is neither here nor there. Just sharing.
Marcus invited Briley onboard his tour bus in 2021, where their love blossomed over music. They were engaged just seven months later.
Not only does Marcus often credit his wife with for pulling him out of a low point in his life, they often collaborate professionally. Briley sang background vocals on a few of his albums. She is always with him on the road. They write together just as much as they play together — which is almost every night.
Beyond the title of Marcus King’s wife, Briley King is known best for her Southern charm, charisma, and vibrant sense of fashion. Her social media just about sums up her vivacious, multi-faceted personality.
And she has some serious pipes!

It is no secret that Briley King can sing. We’ve known this for as long as she has dated Marcus.
The 28-year-old tried to build a solo music career of her own when she was still Briley Hussey and it sure as heck ain’t no autotune!
I cannot get enough of her and Marcus’ cover of ‘Linger’ by The Cranberries.
However, Briley’s cover of ‘The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia’ is my all-time favorite. She first performed it alongside her husband at the Family Reunion.
She later posted the solo version (I assume from rehearsals) on TikTok. It has racked up more than three million views in three days.

No disrespect to Ms. Lawrence or Ms. McEntire but I am choosing Briley King’s version 10 times out of 10. The Carolina soul in her voice cannot be matched.
I don’t know what it would take to get a Briley King album at this point, but we are all waiting patiently. She can sing lead. Marcus can rip on the guitar and sing background. Flip the script just one time. PLEASE!
