Caitlin Clark is not the only reason that the WNBA saw a massive increase in viewership during the 2024 season. However, she was the primary catalyst for the largest amount of growth in league history and Unrivaled would like to capitalize on that same momentum.

The new three-on-three women’s basketball league is reportedly preparing to approach the No. 1 overall pick in the coming weeks.

Unrivaled, co-founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, is scheduled to begin in January 2025 with an eight-week season. It will be a round-robin schedule and the top-four of six teams in the standings will advance to the playoffs at the end of six weeks. Monday and Friday games will air on TNT. Saturday games will air on TruTV.

26 of the league’s 30 total players have already been announced. The list includes Angel Reese, Kelsey Plum, Brittney Griner, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Marina Mabrey, Jewell Lloyd and Kahleah Copper, among others. There are still four open spots.

Unrivaled hopes Caitlin Clark will take one of them!

According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, the league is going to try and recruit the biggest female basketball star of all-time to play in its inaugural season even though she previously declined. It wanted to give her some time to recover and reset before it came in hot with an offer.

Clark does not need the money or the publicity. The 22-year-old played basketball pretty much non-stop for a full 365 days, dating back to the start of last season at Iowa. She made it abundantly clear that offseason rest and recovery, in addition to a sense of normalcy, was something to which she very much looked forward. Her only goal for the next few months is to get really good at golf.

Unrivaled hopes that Caitlin Clark will get the itch to get back on the court and change her mind. It is going to unleash its “full-court press” sooner rather than later.
