It’s pretty hard to put together a March Madness bracket that makes it through the first two rounds of the tournament unscathed, but there are some people who’ve managed to do exactly that this year. That includes one fan who nailed every single game in the women’s tournament ahead of the Sweet Sixteen but could end up missing out on a big prize after failing to pick a winner in the championship game.
In a vacuum, the odds of putting together a perfect March Madness bracket are 1 in 9,223,372,036,854,775,808, and every single college basketball fan has been reminded of the borderline impossible nature of that task when you consider there’s never been an officially verified immaculate bracket since the NCAA Tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985.
However, you don’t need to be perfect to make some money in a pool or take home some of the prizes offered by the various outlets that give fans the chance to enter a bracket contest before March Madness officially kicks off.
That includes CBS, which organized contests for the men’s and women’s tournament where the eventual winner will get four tickets to next year’s Final Four.
There wasn’t a single person who managed to guess the outcome of every men’s game correctly, but there are four people who did exactly that when it came to the contests that determined which women’s teams will be competing in the Sweet Sixteen (there are a total of 33 across major online bracket challenges).
That quartet of perfect brackets includes the one created by someone known only as “Rip,” who is hoping to keep the good times going in the hopes LSU ends up meeting South Carolina in the championship game.
However, they might not be able to walk away with a trip to the Final Four even if things keep trending in the right direction when you consider they somehow forgot to pick an eventual champion by the time the brackets were locked.
