Update: the Cleveland Browns have provided the following statement about the latest sexual assault allegations made against quarterback Deshaun Watson through a spokesperson, per The Athletic writer Zac Jackson:

“We will respect the due process our legal system affords regarding the recently filed civil suit and follow the NFL’s guidelines on this matter.”

The Browns have also since posted on their X, formerly Twitter, account, however, none of their posts have addressed the Watson allegations.

Original article:

Deshaun Watson has previously been accused of sexual assault over 20 times. All of those allegations, however, came out in 2021, when Watson was a member of the Houston Texans.

Despite all of the allegations against Deshaun Watson, though, the Cleveland Browns not only decided to trade for him but also gave the controversial signal-caller a then-unprecedented fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract.

Forgetting all of the crimes Watson has been accused of, for a second, the contract has been utterly disastrous thus far as the QB hasn’t lived up to the money in the deal irrespective of the added context that is Watson’s personal baggage.

On Monday, September 9, the Watson issue was exponentially exasperated for the Browns as the increasingly unpopular signal-caller was, once again, sued for alleged sexual assault, with the latest suit coming with particularly disturbing and graphic details about the encounter.

At the time of this writing at 11:25 a.m. EST on Tuesday, September 10, the Cleveland Browns have yet to officially address the allegations against Watson, which are the first that have been made since they traded for him on March 18, 2022.

Furthermore, their X, formerly Twitter, account has not been posted on since Monday at 3 p.m. — about an hour before the new allegations became public. It should be noted, however, that a handful of NFL teams also sparsely posted between the hours of Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, as Monday is an off-day in the league.

Take on look at the Browns’ most recent tweet — which was an injury update about tight end David Njoku — and you’ll see what the franchise can likely expect from league-wide fans until they address the situation.

“Get rid of Deshaun or I’ll get rid of my season tickets,” one fan responded.

“We cut Watson yet?” asked another frustrated supporter.

“Announce the morality clause and release of Watson,” one fan requested.
