The Dallas Cowboys have turned into a joke, according to longtime former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel, who played for the then Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, and Los Angeles Chargers during his 14 seasons in the NFL.

Speaking on FS1 after the Cowboys’ Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Chase Daniel went so far as to say that the Cowboys have become such a mismanaged mess that they’re now the laughingstock of the National Football League (which, as much as we all like to dunk on the Cowboys, objectively isn’t true due to the existence of the New York Jets).

“The Dallas Cowboys, in my opinion, are one of the laughingstocks of the league,” Daniel said on the Fox Sports 1 show The Facility on Tuesday, November 5.

“It’s crazy to think that this is how the Dallas Cowboys, how far they have fallen from a 12-win, a 12-win, a 12-win season. I just don’t see how there’s any chance Mike McCarthy is back next year.”

The Cowboys’ season only got worse this week as they not only lost to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday but they also lost Dak Prescott to a hamstring injury for multiple weeks and also overpaid in a trade with the Carolina Panthers for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo.

As for Daniel, the 38-year-old former quarterback was the definition of a career back up as he spent 14 seasons in the NFL but never started more than two games in a single season.

Up next for the Cowboys in Week 10 will be a matchup at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. They’ll then face off against the Houston Texans and Washington Commanders before hosting the New York Giants on Thanksgiving.
