The Athletics — yes, just The Athletics, as they are no longer the Oakland Athletics and are not yet the Las Vegas Athletics — are in the midst of another miserable season at the bottom of Major League Baseball’s American League West division. But just because the team itself stinks doesn’t mean that the players aren’t still capable of elite athletic plays.
During Monday night’s 7-4 loss to the equally pitiful Los Angeles Angels, the Athletics outfielder Denzel Clarke pulled in a home run robbery that has some baseball fans and analysts calling it the best catch they’ve ever seen in MLB.
Other than the incredible catch, Clarke made two appearances at the plate and went hitless and walkless against the Angels.

“I’ve seen the list of the greatest catches you’re ever going to see in your life. If you don’t have room for this one, we’re watching two different sports,” said announcer Dallas Braden, who was calling the game.
“This has to be one of the best catches I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen my share of home run robberies,” added former MLB All-Star Torii Hunter social media.
Clarke, 26 years old, made his MLB debut earlier this season after he was drafted in the 36th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the New York Jets.
What makes Clarke’s catch against the Angels all the more incredible is that he busted out a similarly remarkable grab against the Baltimore Orioles just a week earlier.

At this time, the Athletic’s are set to begin playing in Las Vegas at the start of the 2028 season, which means whatever fans still remain in California will have to head down to Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento to watch their team until then.
