DJ Burns officially began his professional basketball career in South Korea on Monday and he is already dunking all over everybody. The former March Madness legend is significantly larger than most of his teammates, which continues a trend that dates back to his time at North Carolina State.
Fans are going to love him just like they did during his remarkable run last spring!!
Burns, who began his career with a single redshirt season at Tennessee, really burst onto the scene at Winthrop. He later transferred to N.C. State and led the Wolfpack to the Elite Eight in 2024. His NCAA Tournament dominance is one of the greatest runs in college basketball history.
Even though Burns went undrafted after some rumors he might want to play football, he played the summer with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Unfortunately, they chose not to sign him to the regular season roster so we will not get to see him hoop in the NBA— for now at least.
In a subsequent move to continue his career, Burns signed with the Goyang Sono Skygunners of the Korean Basketball League. His teammates were impressed by his surprisingly nimble footwork and slick moves. They lost their minds over one particular bucket on the baseline.

The Skygunners played their first official exhibition game on Monday, which marked DJ Burns’ debut. It was utterly dominant, as could be expected.
One particular play stood out. The 23-year-old big man caught a pass at the top of the key and powered his way to the rim for a vicious dunk. A pair of Korean defenders made a business decision to get out of the way instead of trying to step in front of the 6-foot-9, 275-pound Burns.

Goyang Sono begins its regular season against the Hyundai Mobis Phoebus on Oct. 20. Korean defenders are going to have a very hard time stopping DJ Burns!
