Dude Perfect is set to release a new video with Caitlin Clark in the coming days. However, the viral YouTube sensations were caught lying about the timing of when it was filmed.
Although it is really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, the true hoop-heads were quick to notice a discrepancy between the latest caption for social media and reality.
Dude Perfect has more than 60 million subscribers on YouTube, 18.5 million followers on TikTok and 12.5 million followers on Instagram. The five former roommates at Texas A&M University are a big enough deal to go on a multi-city tour (similar to Nitro Circus but with less action sports). They recently unveiled a brand-new $5 million headquarters in the Lone Star State. Their videos total more than 18 billion views.
Even though the brand has since become something much bigger, Dude Perfect is still best known for its crazy trick shots. It was trick shots that really put them on the map way back in 2009.
Caitlin Clark is the most recent guest for a video yet to be released. She joined Tyler Toney at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. They presumably teamed up to shoot some wild shots around one of the most historic venues in college basketball, where Clark’s boyfriend serves as an assistant coach at Butler.
To tease the upcoming video drop, Toney hit a lengthy overhand throw aptly named ‘The Hinkle Heave’ in an 18-second clip posted to all forms of social media. It is captioned: “Sooo THIS JUST HAPPENED 😳”
Except that did not just happen!
Notice the court. It is set up for the Bulldogs of the Big East.
The teaser video was posted on Tuesday, April 1. Butler concluded its regular season on March 8. Hinkle Fieldhouse actually hosted the NIT Semifinals on April 1. The court was changed out for the National Invitation Tournament.

Hinkle Fieldhouse looked completely different on Tuesday than it did in the Dude Perfect video.

Thus, the ‘Hinkle Heave’ did not “just happen.” The caption was a lie!
People, myself included, are talking about Caitlin Clark’s collab with Dude Perfect so it worked. This discrepancy between caption and reality is very unimportant. Not a big deal.
And yet, hoop heads knew right away it was a stretch of the truth!
You aren’t going to get one past the college basketball sickos, Dude Perfect. Nice try.
