The sculptors of the Dwyane Wade statue are speaking out.
On Sunday afternoon, the Miami Heat honored Wade with his own statue outside of the Kaseya Center.
Unfortunately, fans mocked the statue on social media because it looked nothing like Wade himself.

Even Bill Simmons called it the worst statue he had seen.

“The biggest loser of the day was Dwyane Wade who had the worst statue of all time. It looked like somebody who had emerged from a fire and lived. It was like Jim Carrey’s [Fire Marshal Bill] sketch. Can you imagine having a statue look that bad of yourself being unveiled? What would you even say? ‘Uh, thanks?’ There’s never been a worse sports statue ever. I mean it got rightfully killed today.”
On Monday, sculptor Omri Amrany spoke about the reaction to the Wade statue he made.

“I couldn’t do better than that. I don’t think anybody else can do better than that. It is what it is, and we will love it forever.”
Wade also spoke to the media about the backlash the statue received.
“Social media world is about opinions. Send some memes. We don’t care. It was a special moment yesterday, my family and I.” said Wade.
“It don’t need to look like me. It’s an artistic version of me.”
Dwyane Wade asked if he saw any reaction to statue:
“Yeah, I have an i-phone.”
