ESPN’s Adam Schefter has angered people with his latest report.

On Thursday, Schefter reported that former Stanford head coach David Shaw had interviewed for the LA Chargers head coaching vacancy.

In his report, Schefter noted that the Chargers are now in compliance with the Rooney Rule, which states that an NFL team must interview at least one African American coaching candidate for a vacant head coaching job.

Some fans took offense at Schefter’s reporting because they feel he implied the Chargers only interviewed the African-American Shaw to comply with the Rooney Rule.

“Why the hell do we keep doing this? Stop. Please stop saying “in compliance with the Rooney rule” after a Black coach is interviewed. You look horrendous when doing it and I’m not sure why more of your colleagues don’t call you out. It shouldn’t happen.” said one fan.

“This is completely unacceptable for a National Reporter to say. David Shaw is a fantastic coach and the wording makes it seem he’s only getting an interview because of the Rooney Rule.” commented another fan.

Schefter evetually added Shaw’s accolades to a separate tweet after facing backlash from fans.
