A former NFL doctor is giving his thoughts on Christian McCaffrey’s latest injury. On Sunday night’s Niners-Bills game, McCaffrey went down with a non-contact leg injury.
49ers fans initially feared that McCaffrey may have torn his Achilles again.
Thank looks similar to Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson’s Achilles tears, the way you see Mccaffery’s calf jiggle like that, his season is most likely over and even possibly his career 😭pic.twitter.com/NECQlEzfIU

Ex-NFL doc David Chao, better known as Pro Football Doc, believes McAffrey sprained his right PCL in his knee and did not tear his Achilles.
“Worry for right knee PCL sprain on a shoestring tackle in the first half of today’s game, likely not season-ending, will not need surgery, possible meniscus injury, good news is that it is not a long-term injury and not an Achilles injury and will not need surgery, will need an MRI to determine exact nature of the injury, could be a 2-4 week injury”
Hopefully, Chao is right, and McCaffrey can come back before the end of the season.
Update: The Niners confirmed McCaffrey has a PCL strain.
Kyle Shanahan said Christian McCaffrey suffered a potentially season-ending PCL injury.
