On Tuesday, it was revealed that Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s homes were burglarized last month. Now the burglaries of the Kansas City Chiefs stars’ mansions are part of a federal investigation as the FBI has gotten officially involved.

The burglary at Patrick Mahomes’ home in Belton, Missouri was reported to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at around midnight on Oct. 6. Travis Kelce’s Leawood, Kansas home was also broken into around 7:33 p.m. on Oct. 7, while the Chiefs were playing the New Orleans Saints, and was reported to police on Oct. 8.

Police report that $20,000 in cash was taken from Kelce’s home, however, thus far there has been no report of what, if anything, was taken from Mahomes’ home. TMZ reports that the burglaries may be part of a larger burglary spree in the area.

This is assumed to be the reason for the FBI getting involved in the investigation along with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Leawood Police Department. The FBI is reportedly investigating break-ins at other homes in nearby neighborhoods.

“Our sources tell us the feds would NOT get involved if this were a run of the mill burglary spree on the local level,” TMZ reported on Wednesday, “and the FBI’s involvement here indicates the case could involve organized crime crossing state lines.”

On the night of the break-in at Travis Kelce’s home – a home he purchased recently to give him more privacy after he began dating Taylor Swift – he and Swift reportedly stayed at a downtown Kansas City hotel.

This is the third time since the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade that law enforcement has been forced to get involved in felonious crimes with where Mahomes and Kelce were somehow connected to them, including the shooting that took place during the celebration in February.

In August, a man was arrested over the weekend after issuing a serious threat against Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. A Morgan Wallen concert at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City that the two Chiefs stars were attending had to be delayed for 40 minutes after a man threatened to shoot the two football players.
