21-year-old Luke Poulter, the son of LIV Golf star Ian Poulter, is representing Great Britain and Ireland this week at the USGA’s Walker Cup held at Cypress Point which, for me, is the most beautiful golf course on planet earth.
Luke Poulter is following in his father’s footsteps by pursuing golf at the highest levels. Ian had 3 PGA Tour wins and 12 European Tour wins. He also finished 2nd at the 2008 Open Championship which was won by Padraig Harrington.
Luke is a rising Junior at the University of Florida and plays for the Gators. Presumably, he will turn pro after college and his game is already at a pro level, it seems. He is currently the 27th ranked amateur golfer in the world according to the WAGR.
Luke Poulter Holes Out For Eagle, Has First-Ever Hole-In-One Two Holes Later
At Cypress Point on Thursday while warming up for the Walker Cup, Luke Poulter holed out for eagle on the first hole. Then on the third hole he recorded his first-ever hole-in-one.
This wasn’t just Luke’s first hole-in-one in competition, it was his first-ever hole-in-one:
Luke Poulter is representing GB&I this week in the Walker Cup after an awesome year on the collegiate and amateur circuit. Yesterday he was playing a practice round at Cypress Point and made his first ever ace on the third hole after already holing out for an eagle on the first🔥 pic.twitter.com/S0UkElVyo0

Suffice it to say nobody in the world was playing better golf than Luke Poulter through 3 holes yesterday than he was. Luke was literally playing the best golf on earth for that 3 hole stretch. Incredible stuff.
What a Thursday morning so far for Luke Poulter!

The younger Poulter seems to have a very bright golf career ahead of him. His (first) low round last season in NCAA Golf was a 67 at the 2 NCAA Bremerton Regional ’25, but he shot 67 four times last season.
He was a PING All-American Honorbale Mention in 2025 and averaged 71.2 on the course last season.
The Walker Cup will be airing on the Golf Channel (and Peacock, I assume) this weekend so be sure to tune in!
