‘Baby That’s A Date’: Kansas Man Goes Golfing With Female Co-Worker, Tells Girlfriend She Can’t Come Since She’s ‘Too Slow.’ Now She’s Seeking Advice

A woman asked TikTok for advice after she says her boyfriend told her she couldn’t come along to golf with him and his female co-worker.

In a video with over 1.2 million views, TikToker Emily Landon (@emilyfromkansassss) shares a clip of her boyfriend sitting across from her at a restaurant. He looks at the camera and burps, seemingly oblivious to his girlfriend filming him.

On-screen text reads, “BF for sale. He’s going golfing with his co-worker, who’s a girl, and he said I can’t come too because I’m ‘too slow for the course.’”

Is It Normal To Hang Out With Co-Workers Of The Opposite Gender?

In the comments, viewers debated whether it’s OK for Landon’s boyfriend to hang out with a female co-worker.

“I don’t even talk to my male coworkers outside of work unless it’s about covering a shift?” one wrote.

“Spending time together, by themselves at that fact- outside of work. that aint a coworker- thats either a friendship growing, and lets not get started on if its growing into something more,” another said.

“Word of advice: your significant other is allowed to have friendships with other people. You can’t be their only means of satisfaction. Their needs and wants don’t have to revolve around you,” a third suggested.

A 2017 poll by the New York Times found that working professionals are split on whether it’s OK to hang out with a co-worker of the opposite sex when in a relationship. Over 50% of women and 45% of men say it’s inappropriate to meet up with a co-worker alone without their partner present.

Should She Dump Her Boyfriend Before The Golf Trip?

Many women commenters rallied around Landon, urging her to “dump him from the Island,” referencing the popular summer reality dating show Love Island.

“That’s not your bf anymore. He’s literally going on a date with another woman. Especially if she’s single like DUDE,” a commenter wrote.

“1 on 1? girl let me hold ur hand when i say this…” another said.

“Either he’s not going or he’s going single,” a third added.

Others suggested petty ways the TikToker can get her revenge.

“Pro tip: Go out to dinner with a guy and tell him he can’t go because he probably couldn’t afford it,” one offered.

“Take a male coworker clothes shopping and say he has better taste,” another wrote.

“Go golfing with a male coworker or friend same day,” a third suggested.

Ragebait?

However, Landon clarified in a comment that she was simply “ragebaiting” her followers.

“It’s ok, this is just a joke, he would never lmao,” she admitted.

In an email to BroBible, Landon confirms that her boyfriend was in on the video. She says she is shocked by the response, pointing out that many viewers blamed the co-worker.

“What stood out to me was how quickly people jumped to blame the girl in a situation like this,” she writes. “It says a lot about the way people view women in relationships, and I think that’s why the video got such a strong reaction.”
