Heinz-Harald Frentzen might not be considered a racing legend, per say, but the former F1 driver finished his 10-year career as one of the best of his era. Although he has been retired since 2003, the 58-year-old will not soon forget the most iconic courses in the sport.

His ability to draw racetracks by memory stems not from the layout itself but from the noise the engine makes at various points of the race.

I am not the most knowledgable fan when it comes to Formula One or racing in general, to be completely honest, so don’t jump all over me for being a casual — because I am. Maybe this is not as impressive as I think but I would like to imagine other people on the outside of the sport looking in will be just as impressed as I am.

Who is Heinz-Harald Frentzen?

The German-born driver competed in Formula One from 1994-2003 after an impressive run on the German Formula 3 circuit. Heinz-Harald Frentzen raced with Sauber, Williams, Jordan, Prost and Arrows at various points during his career.

His best season came in 1999 when he finished third in the Drivers’ Championship behind Mika Hakkinen and Eddie Irvine. He won two Grand Prix races that year, in France and Italy, after getting his first victory at San Marino in 1997.

There was a lot of promise for Frentzen’s F1 career but it never quite reached its full potential. Various team dynamics and poor timing caused a lot of different peaks and valleys.

Although things never quite became what people had hoped, he remains highly respected in the racing world as a talented and versatile driver. His daughter, Lea, always makes sure to promote her dad’s legacy.

She has the utmost respect for him. As do drivers past and present.

A driver never forgets how to drive!

Lea recently asked her father to drive multiple tracks from memory for a video on TikTok. Frentzen had no problem remembering every single straightaway and turn at Suzuka in Japan, Monza in Italy, and Monaco.

22 years since my dad stopped racing in F1 — I asked him to draw some tracks from memory. First go and he nailed all three! Not bad after being out of it for so long 👏🏼🏁✨do you want a part 2? #f1tiktok #formula1 #formulaone #f1 #frentzen #hhf #tracks #draw #drawing #monacogp #monzagp #suzukagp

However, the way in which she edited the video led the haters to say it was fake.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen proved that it wasn’t while out to lunch with his daughter. She ran it back and he proved that a good driver never forgets his races, no matter how old or how long retired.

He pretty much nailed it on Nurburgring in Germany, from 1999.

This time I didn’t edit any of the video, because a lot of you guys thought that I cut it on purpose so my dad could open his eyes and cheat. That was definitely not the case. So here you have a whole minute of him drawing the Nürburgring 😊😍 (WITH HIS EYES CLOSED) @Formula 1 #f1tiktok #formula1 #formulaone #f1 #tracks #f1driver #f1racer

I am blown away by this. I often struggle to remember what I had for breakfast, let alone the fourth turn of a racetrack I have not driven in more than two decades. It is also fascinating to me how Frentzen remembers every intricate detail of a track by the way his car sounds, not necessarily by sight. Pretty wild!
