Hykeem Williams is on the move after entering the transfer portal earlier this season. The former Florida State wide receiver will join Deion Sanders at Colorado next year.

The decision comes a few years after being very vocal on a similar situation. Williams shaded Travis Hunter over his choice to play for Jackson State.

Williams and Hunter were both 5-star prospects in their respective recruiting cycles, which came one year apart. They were at one time both committed to play for the same school.

Hunter, the top overall player in the ’22 class, gave his pledge to the Seminoles before a very late surprise flip to Jackson State. He spurned Florida State in order to play for Deion Sanders.

One year later, Williams honored his FSU commitment by inking his signature on National Signing Day. Coach Prime, who’d just been hired at Colorado, reached out to the receiver in hopes of pulling off another flip. He was unsuccessful.

“Ain’t no Travis Hunter over here,” Williams told him. “We locked in. It’s time to work.”

Hykeem Williams mocked Travis Hunter for bailing on the Seminoles in order to join forces with Deion Sanders. Now, he’s doing the same!

Williams announced a commitment to Colorado this week. He will suit up for the Buffs in 2025.

Across two seasons with the Seminoles, Williams recorded 21 catches for a total of 267 yards. He also hauled in a trio of touchdown passes.

He’ll be entering a year of transition with his new school. Gone are Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Julian Lewis and Kaidon Salter will battle for the starting QB spot.

Hykeem Williams will have an opportunity to grab a significant role in an offense looking for pass catchers. He’s one of three transfer wide receivers in Colorado’s 2025 class.

It will be interesting to see if the move works out for Williams after the initial shade thrown at Hunter. The decision to follow Deion Sanders led to a Heisman trophy for Hunter. Williams hopes to see similar success in Boulder.
