Update: IShowSpeed was not in danger after performing a stunt at The Strat in Las Vegas earlier this week. The video shown to IShowSpeed that made him believe he had nearly avoided tragedy while jumping off The Strat was doctored by a TiKTOK user.

Here’s a statement from Stephanie Wilson spokeswoman for The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower.

This claim is completely false. @baldnews_, a TikTok creator, exploited a momentary video glitch to suggest a safety issue with a carabiner—there was none. As soon as we were made aware, we contacted the creator, who promptly removed the false post. Unfortunately, the post had already reached @ishowspeed, who mentioned it during a stream, and that video has since been circulated. We are actively in discussions with his team about the most impactful way to address the issue, as this is part of a 35-day livestream.

The carabiner in question is brand-new, rated to 5,070 pounds (2,300 kg), and remained secure for the entire jump. It is just one component of a multi-layered safety system, and in this case, it isn’t even the primary safety device—it’s designed to help absorb impact on landing. At no point was there a malfunction; what appeared to be an issue was simply a visual distortion in the video.

SkyJump has maintained an impeccable safety record for over 16 years, with more than 400,000 jumps.
