Wyndham Clark has been accused of battering a locker room at Oakmont Country Club after missing the cut at the US Open. Ian Poulter is coming to his defense.

The LIV Golfer posted his reaction to viral photos now circulating social media. Poulter says he’s done worse!

Images of the damaged lockers at Oakmont surfaced online this weekend. Clark was said to have been the culprit.

Wyndham Clark shot +4 on both Thursday and Friday. His +8 total was one stroke over the cut line, leading to his removement from the field.

The course was a source of frustration for a number of golfers over the weekend. The difficulty of Oakmont has been a topic of conversation throughout the tournament.

Clark was unable to navigate the course. He was cut as a result. He’s then believed to have taken his rage out on a helpless locker. While he received immediate backlash from fans, a few golfers have come to his defense.

Ian Poulter says Wyndham Clark’s actions were justified.

I have inflicted severe Locker destruction through the years at US Opens and paid my fines. Generally they have been our temporary build lockers. Not members lockers. Not that that’s an excuse. Generally it’s been when I’ve felt the USGA have pushed the limits over the edge.

-Ian Poulter

Poulter admitted to doing worse, resulting in fines. He blamed his past locker room destruction on the USGA.

The LIV Golfer is known to be emotional on the course. Just last year, he was seen throwing a temper tantrum while threatening to have a heckler removed from an event. It was one of a number of run-ins he’s had with golf fans, both online and in-person.

Pro golfer Graeme McDowell also chimed in on the situation. He shared a similar perspective, though he wouldn’t go as far as Poulter in defending Clark’s supposed actions.

This is minimal regards what I’ve seen other players do. Players you would never expect. Oakmont will test any players mental fortitude. Seen it in person.

-Graeme McDowell

Ian Poulter saw Wyndham Clark’s alleged locker room battering. He didn’t see much wrong with the destruction. Frustrations are often high at the US Open. He believes it should be an expected consequence of the major’s difficulty.
