We were treated to a piping hot batch of NFL Media Beef on Wednesday when Ian Rapoport and Jordan Schultz got into it at a Starbucks in Indianapolis. The former made it pretty clear he’s not going out of his way to extend an olive branch to his fellow insider during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show where he also threw some shade at his foe over his reputation as a nepo baby.
Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter are widely viewed as the NFL’s two most prominent insiders, but they have plenty of competition courtesy of other reporters who’ve attempted to carve out a spot for themselves in the same lane.
That includes Jordan Schultz, who is currently employed by Bleacher Report but has worked for notable outlets including Yahoo Sports and ESPN since he started pursuing the same career path at the start of the 2010s.
Schultz has managed to make a name for himself, but he’s also had some trouble emerging from the shadow of his father Howard Schultz, the billionaire best known for his multiple stints as the CEO of Starbucks.
That relationship adds an extra level to the scene that unfolded at the Starbucks outpost in the JW Marriot in Indianapolis on Wednesday, as plenty of people who’ve gathered in the city for the NFL Combine witnessed the insider-on-insider incident that transpired when Schultz reportedly accosted Rapoport over a dispute that seemingly stemmed from their conflicting reporting concerning the nature of the meeting Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford had after crossing paths at a ski resort in Montana.
Schultz asserted Brady hosted the Rams QB at his home in what he framed as an effort to convince Stafford to join the Raiders shortly before Rapoport disputed the account of the encounter without directly citing the initial report.
That purportedly led to Schultz hurling obscenities at Rapoport in the Starbucks as things got heated to the point where NFL Security felt the need to launch an official investigation into what transpired, and the latter got the chance to address what went down during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday.
What’s the mindset like today 😂😂
“Everybody in the world texted me last night wanting to know the details..
Florio basically had the whole story and there’s not much to add” ~ @RapSheet

Rapoport acknowledged he didn’t have much to add after noting Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk had accurately summarized the specifics of the showdown in the article linked above.
He heavily implied he has no plans to go out of his way to shake hands with Schultz to put things behind them before throwing some shade at his lineage, saying, “There’s actually a lot of great coffee brands; Dunkin'” before McAfee and Co. erupted with laughter (it’s worth noting Howard Schultz hasn’t served as the CEO of Starbucks since departing the interim role in 2023).
Well played.
