Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond is very, very fast. But is he faster than ex-teammate Xavier Worthy? We’ll find out soon, but Bond seems to believe that’s the case.
Worthy broke the NFL Combine record a year ago when he ran a jaw-dropping 4.21 in the 40-yard dash. Worthy’s performance was enough to boost him into the first round the 2024 NFL Draft, where the Kansas City Chiefs selected him with the No. 28 overall pick. Worthy went on to catch 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns and, in doing, solidified himself as a big time weapon for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

On Friday, Bond didn’t just suggest the possibility that he could break Worthy’s record, he guaranteed that he would do so.
“I’m going to break the record tomorrow, for sure,” Bond said. “I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly, if I’m feeling great, I might run a 4.1.”
If he does break Worthy’s record, it would also be a personal record for Bond, who said that he’s gone as fast as 4.23 in training for the NFL Combine. At 5-foot-11, both Bond and Worthy are the same height. However, Bond checked in at 180 pounds during the measurement portion of the combine, that’s 15 pounds heavier than Worthy was a year ago.
NFL’s NextGen stats also gave Bond a 6.33 prospect grade, stating that he’s most likely to be a “plus starter” in the NFL. Worthy, meanwhile, checked in at 6.29 and likely to be an “average starter.”
Will Bond live up to the billing? We’ll find out on Saturday when the wide receivers join the running backs and quarterbacks for testing at the 2025 NFL Combine. But Bond has certainly set a high bar for himself, and it’s one that Worthy probably hopes his former teammate will not be able to clear.
