Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts went viral with his Halloween costume this year. While NFL fans originally thought he went dressed as the Mr. Johnson character from the ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary, he actually got dressed up as God — the Morgan Freeman version of God from Bruce Almighty, that is.

Morgan Freeman as God in Bruce Almighty — now a 22 year old movie — is one of the most iconic parts of the latter stages of his career.

Bruce Almighty, starring Jim Carrey, sees a regular man — a newscaster in Buffalo — be granted the gifts and power of God to see that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

Jalen Hurts didn’t rock Freeman’s all-white suit, however, but his janitor look from when he’s introduced early in the film — thus the temporary confusion with Mr. Johnson.

So far through six games this season, Hurts has completed 70.2% of his passes for 1,677 yards with 15 touchdowns and one interception, while also rushing for 207 yards and five touchdowns.

After getting revenge on the New York Giants last weekend to improve to 6-2, the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles will be back in action for a Week 9 Monday Night Football matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
