The Oklahoma basketball team fell to SEC rival Auburn on Tuesday night in blowout fashion. The Tigers flexed their top-ranked muscles, leaving with a 98-70 win in Neville Arena.
The Sooners kept pace with the nation’s No. 1 team early on, trailing just 38-34 with about three minutes left in the first half. It would be all Auburn after that.
The Tigers outscored Oklahoma by 24 points from that point on. They exploded for 54 second half points to put the game well out of reach.
Sooners forward Jalon Moore played a large role in keeping the game competitive early. He scored eight points on 4-6 shooting across the opening nine minutes of action. Unfortunately, his confidence got the best of him.
Moore drove to the hoop and scored over the top of a defender to pull his team to within six points in the first half. That bucket came with just over 11 minutes left before the break. Afterwards, he looked over to the Auburn bench and yelled, “You can’t guard me!” The Tigers proved otherwise.
Jalon Moore got T’ed up for telling the Auburn bench they couldn’t guard him, then Auburn spent the rest of the second half proving him emphatically wrong.

He was quickly T’d up for the celebration, which would age, oh, so poorly. Jalon Moore’s night got very quiet after that technical foul. He missed five of his next six shots, scoring three points in the final 30 minutes of play.
He had no answer for Player of the Year candidate Johni Broome down low and struggled to get anything to fall following that fast start.

At the end of the day, his stat line was respectable. He tallied 11 points on 5-12 shooting. It was a tale of two halves, though, given the steep drop-off in production.
Jalon Moore scored eight quick points in less than 10 minutes. He was then held nearly scoreless over the remaining 30 minutes of play. Auburn took offense to his on-court taunting and made it a point to make his life difficult.
As it turns out, this game was somewhat personal for Moore, who’d previously played at Georgia Tech. His former teammate, Miles Kelly, is a guard on the Auburn roster.
Pretty sure Miles Kelly just got T’d up for talking trash to his former teammate Jalon Moore after that fast break layup.

The two foes went back and forth throughout the evening, with Kelly also landing a technical foul later in the night. In the end, Kelly got the last laugh.
The Tigers got the best of the Sooners this time to improve to 21-1 on the season. Oklahoma fell to 16-6.
