Jamaal Jarrett is set to play his first season of college football at USC in 2025. The monstrous defensive lineman presents a stark contrast to the Trojan marching band, known as The Spirit of Troy.
It is fascinating to see the two extremes of the human physique.
Jarrett recently showed his true character with a kind gesture after college football practice. In doing so, he mad his fellow academic classmates look like middle schoolers.
Who is Jamaal Jarrett?
Jarrett was considered a four-star prospect in the recruiting Class of 2024. He was ranked as one of the top-15 players at his position and a top-100 recruit overall.
The North Carolina-native ultimately committed to play at Georgia over the flagship university in his home state.
Now, two years later, Jarrett is out in Los Angeles as a redshirt sophomore. USC landed the big defensive tackle through the transfer portal at the end of December.
You would have to be blind to miss him. Jarrett is listed on the roster at 6-foot-5, 360 pounds but that might be understated based on his appearance. He is a really, really, really big 19-year-old.
The USC marching band showed up to college football practice!
As is tradition, the Spirit of Troy recently stopped by practice to perform for the football team at the end of fall camp prior to the upcoming season. It is the best band in all of the land!
Jamaal Jarrett made sure to show his appreciation for the band as it made its way off of the field. He stood outside of the exit with his arm outstretched for high fives.
Or, in this case, the highest of fives.
Jarrett’s standing reach lands somewhere between eight and nine feet tall. The same cannot be said for members of the marching band— or really any normal-sized college student for that matter.
Thus, Jarrett’s kind gesture presented a rather stark contrast in size. Check it out:

My favorite part of the video comes at the five-second mark when he daps up the flautist. Her head barely reaches the bottom of the number zero on Jarrett’s chest. Barely.
Only time will tell whether Jamaal Jarrett develops into a star for the Trojans this season but his frame certainly looks the part. I love so much that he might be the same age (or younger) as the tiny flute player even though he has at least 200 pounds and 18 inches on her.
Those two students at USC could sit next to each other in English class! The human body is so cool.
