The Broncos took down the Panthers with relative ease on Sunday, leaving with a 28-14 win to move to 5-3 on the season. After the game, a Carolina defender confronted Denver coach Sean Payton on the field.

Jaycee Horn blasted the coach for attempting to run up the score at the end of the contest. He wasn’t happy with what he viewed as a disrespectful move!

While the final score didn’t necessarily reflect a blowout, the game was in hand for most of the day. Carolina jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead before the Broncos ripped off 28 straight points to take a three-score advantage.

The Panthers tacked on a late touchdown in the final minute of action to make the result appear closer than it was.

Carolina played until the final whistle, closing the gap to 14 points at the last possible moment. Denver was doing the same, though some of the Panthers didn’t appreciate it!

Jaycee Horn approached Sean Payton after the game to voice his displeasure.

The criticism might’ve stemmed from Denver’s fake field goal attempt with around 10 minutes left in the game. They’d also drive inside the Carolina 10-yard line on their final possession before fumbling.

The Broncos’ starters remained in the game for the duration of the contest.

Interestingly enough, the Horn family has history with Sean Payton. Jaycee’s father, Joe, played for Payton in New Orleans!

“I coached his father,” Payton said after the game. “And so, I was yelling back at him. I don’t know what the exchange was, but his father I enjoyed coaching. He was frustrated, I think he was yelling at one of our other players. I like him, I think he’s a good player.”

Sean Payton and Joe Horn spent just one season together in 2006, Payton’s first as the Saints’ head coach. The duo went to the NFC Championship before falling one game shy of a Super Bowl appearance.

Payton showed his respect to both Jaycee Horn and his father after the confrontation. Don’t expect the coach to dial back his aggressive offensive attack over the spat, though.
