Jeremy Schaap Calls OJ Simpson A ‘Murderer’ During ESPN Report

OJ Simpson looks on during his parole hearing

In February, OJ Simpson responded to reports that he had cancer and was in hospice with an emphatic denial.

“I don’t know who put that out there,” he said in one of his patented X (Twitter) videos.

Almost two months to the day later, OJ Simpson was dead.

What was odd about his denials was that, as TMZ reported, nobody out there seemed to be claiming that he actually was in hospice.

Simpson had, however, looked quite ill at times over the past few months, using a cane to get around.

He leaves behind a legacy of football greatness and a unpaid bill of over $96 million, due to Fred Goldman after “The Juice” was found liable for the wrongful death of Goldman’s son Ron in 1997.

Many people have expressed sadness, as well as apathy, in response to OJ Simpson’s passing.

One person who made it very clear that he won’t be missing OJ Simpson on Thursday was ESPN reporter Jeremy Schaap.

Following the announcement of Simpson’s passing on SportsCenter, Schaap said the semi-quiet part out loud.

“I think we have to keep in perspective here, yes, he was acquitted,” Schaap said. “But anyone who has seriously looked at the evidence … would have to come to the conclusion that he was a murderer. And so am I filled with sorrow today? I’m not.”

The same, apparently, cannot be said of the Downtown Athletic Club.

OJ Simpson did actually end up serving time in prison, nine years, after being convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping in 2008.

He and five other men held two sports memorabilia dealers hostage at gun point in a room at the Palace Station hotel in Las Vegas in 2007. Simpson claimed the memorabilia dealers had stolen sports memorabilia of his that he was trying to get back.

He was sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison for those offenses, but was granted parole on July 31, 2013.
