The New York Jets got blown out by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday by a score of 37-22 — with most of the Jets’ 22 points coming in garbage time when the game was out of reach — making them the only winless team in the National Football League after Week 5. But worse than the loss itself, perhaps, are the apparent spirits of the team after it.
While it felt like last Monday night against the Miami Dolphins was rock bottom — reporters heard rookie head coach Aaron Glenn screaming at his players through the walls after the game — the New York Jets sunk even lower against the Dallas Cowboys, as they were entirely competitive. Longtime Jets reporter Rich Cimii said that of the 600+ Jets games he’s covered, this was in the top 10 worst performances.
After the game, the Jets locker room seemed to be in quite the dark place, as the loss left offensive tackle John Simpson in tears and running back Breece Hall contemplating the end of his career.

While expectations were essentially as low as they can be heading into Glenn’s first season as the Jets’ head coach — absolutely no one inside or outside of the organization expected the team to make the playoffs — the former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator has failed to meet them thus far, as the performance of the 0-5 Jets has already led to speculation that he could be one-and-done in New York.
