The Texas Rangers took down the New York Yankees in MLB action 8-5 to earn their 59th win of the season. Joc Pederson played a major role in that come-from-behind victory.

The slugger tied the game in the ninth inning with a pinch-hit home run. His team would later finish the Yankees off in the 10th frame.

Some called Pederson’s solo bomb “poetic justice.” It came moments after the New York broadcast crew called him fat.

Joc Pederson has had a down year.

The outfielder signed a two-year deal with the Rangers this past offseason after a career season in Arizona. Pederson hit .275 last year with 23 home runs and 64 RBIs. He set new personal marks for batting average, stolen bases, and OPS.

Unfortunately, that production has failed to follow him to Texas.

Pederson entered his most recent matchup hitting just .126. He was not in the starting lineup with lefty Max Fried getting the start for the Yankees.

New York commentators David Cone and Ryan Ruocco commented on that lack of production after seeing Pederson enter the game for a pinch-hit attempt. They also made remarks about the veteran’s physique.

The Yankees crew ate crow.

“You can see the physique definitely has evolved for Joc,” they said from the booth.

Cone and Ruocco essentially called Joc Pederson fat. They suggested that he was out of shape. They also pointed out his struggles at the dish.

Pederson made them eat their words a few pitches later. Viewers took note.

“Poetic justice,” one commenter wrote on social media. “They deserved that,” said another.

The solo home run erased a 5-4 Yankees lead. It sent the game into extra innings.

The Rangers would later win on a walk-off bomb from Josh Jung in the 10th frame.
