Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow appeared to suffer a serious knee injury during his team’s 20-9 loss to Washington on Sunday. Despite the injury looking bad in real-time and Burrow being carted off the field, hopes were that the injury wasn’t as serious as it seemed. Unfortunately, it’s a worst-case scenario for Burrow and the Bengals.

On Monday afternoon, the Bengals announced that they had put Burrow on the reserve/injured list. The team stated that Burrow suffered a left knee injury that “will require surgery and rehabilitation, though the team’s medical professionals expect him to fully recover and be back to lead the team next season.” According to Adam Schefter’s report, Burrow has a torn ACL, torn MCL, and even has structural damage to his knee that could keep him on the sideline for a full year.

Burrow sent out a tweet thanking everyone for their support and kind words on Sunday afternoon.
