Tony Hinchcliffe apparently didn’t listen to his good buddy Joe Rogan before going viral over a controversial joke.

Over the weekend, Hinchcliffe, better known as Kill Tony, performed a 10-minute set at Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden.

Hinchliffe received a ton of backlash for his joke about Puerto Rico during his set.

“There’s a lot going on, like, I don’t know if you know this but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. Yeah. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”

On Wednesday, Rogan, who is close friends with Hinchcliffe, revealed that he had advised the comic not to speak at the political rally.

“Don’t do it, don’t do comedy that a place that is doing also…are there going to be a bunch of speakers and you’re going to go up and do 10 minutes. Don’t ever do that. It’s a terrible set up, a political rally, and you’re doing joke like you’re in a comedy club. You can’t, don’t do it”

Rogan also said he told Hinchcliffe not to use the Puerto Rico joke because of how mad it would make people.

“The joke kills at comedy clubs, I don’t like the joke, but it kills…The joke does well. but I said to him, dude that’s the one thats going to get you stabbed”

Rogan went on to defend his friend from the social media backlash.

“I think it’ll blow over, just like all these things do and there’s people who are always going to hate someone like Tony and it’s going to make other people love him more, but it’s like he’s going through it right now”
