The future of the quarterback position for the New York Jets is in a familiar position, with uncertainty abound. One long-term option is 2024 NFL Draft Pick Florida State.

Travis slid down to the fifth-round after a heinous knee injury late in the season for the then-undefeated Florida State Seminoles meant that he wouldn’t be ready to play until midseason in 2024 at the very earliest. The Jets still don’t really know what they have in him, but it seems like his camp isn’t too pleased with how he’s been handled by the franchise so far.

Travis starred at Florida State. In his final two seasons, Travis led them back to national prominence, accounting for 58 touchdowns against 7 interceptions. But, a gruesome injury suffered against North Alabama in a cupcake game at the end of a season in which the Seminoles were 10-0 and poised to make the College Football Playoff changed everything. Not only did Florida State end up getting controversially left out of the playoff despite being. 13-0, but the injury caused Travis to miss all of the 2024 season with New York. He dropped in the draft to Pick 171, as he likely would’ve gone much higher

With the Aaron Rodgers experiment now over for the Jets, they’re looking for a new quarterback to build around. Some think they should give Travis the reins for a season, see what they have, and then reevaluate. That’s not a bad option.

But, I’m not sure how good the relationship is between the Jets and Travis. Here’s a quote from a recent ESPN article about the Jets that shows there could be some discontent.

The past 15 months have been physically and mentally taxing for Travis, who spent his rookie year on the non-football injury list. The hope was to get him on the practice field at some point, but that never materialized.

“His rehab with the Jets was not the best,” his agent, Deiric Jackson, told ESPN. “They tried to rush him. It was too fast. There was pressure on the coaching staff and they tried to get him going sooner than the timeline really was. That caused the setback, and we had to shut him down completely.”

It seems like the Jets never get it right. It’s a franchise that’s in a infinite doom loop, it seems.
