Former UFC fighter turned bare-knuckle MMA promoter Jorge Masvidal isn’t a big fan of the proposed Deontay Wilder-Francis Ngannou MMA fight.

During an appearance on the MMA Hour, the former UFC heavyweight champion revealed that Wilder was training in MMA and that the two could fight in the near future in a crossover-type fight.

“That is something that can potentially happen, Deontay Wilder for a couple of months, for a little while now, has been training MMA…that’s something that makes sense.”

We spoke to Masvidal ahead of the upcoming GameBred Bareknuckle MMA fight card on November 10th, and he said he doesn’t think it’s a good idea for Wilder to fight Ngannou in MMA.

“He wouldn’t last two minutes if Ngannou chooses to take him down the fight is over… We’ve seen that Ngannou can wrestle and Ngannou actually has submissions and he’s submitted at the UFC level 1-2 guys, but for sure I know he has one submission at the UFC level.”

“Wilder is nowhere near UFC level grappling so if Ngannou played it safe and scooped his leg and dumped him on his head, what is Wilder going to do? He hasn’t been preparing the last 10 years for that, it’s completely different world.”

Masvidal is currently promoting his GameBred BareKnuckle MMA promotion that is holding an event on November 10th featuring Alan Belcher vs Roy Nelson and several other UFC fighters, including Hector Lombard and Jason Knight.
