I cannot believe I actually have to say this but, no, TCU quarterback Josh Hoover is not part of the furry community. (As far as I know.)

A fake Instagram story is circulating on the internet as if it is real but… it’s not.

Unfortunately, as funny as it would be, the original image came from a parody account. Fans of other college football programs took the photo and ran buck wild on social media to the point that nobody knows what to believe.

Who is Josh Hoover?

The former three-star recruit took over as the starting quarterback at TCU in 2023. Hoover was thrust into action during Week 6 of his redshirt freshman season after an injury to Chandler Morris.

He returned as QB1 as a redshirt sophomore and led the Horned Frogs to a 9-4 record last season. Only six signal-callers finished with more passing yards. Hoover threw for 3,949 yards and 27 touchdowns on 313 completions with 11 interceptions. It was a strong year.

There is a lot of hype around Josh Hoover as the 2025 college football season quickly approaches. Tennessee supposedly called him up back in April to see whether he would consider a move to Knoxville. The Volunteers needed a quarterback after the departure of Nico Iamaleava. They were willing to pay him approximately $1 million more than what he is getting paid in Fort Worth.

Their top choice said no. He decided to return to TCU.

What is a Furry?

Simply put, a Furry is someone who has an interest in anthropomorphic animals. An anthropomorphic animal has human traits, like walking on two legs, speaking a common language and wearing clothes.

Many furries choose to express themselves through role play. They create alternate personas to act like an animal. They often wear colorful fursuits to look like cartoon animals.

You might frequently encounter Furries at a school like Cal-Berkeley. Former Golden Bears running back Jadyn Ott even took a photo with the Furries club while he was on campus last year.

You will not find as many Furries at a school like Texas Christian University.

Is Josh Hoover a Furry?

No. He is not.

Although I technically do not know that answer for certain, because I don’t know what Josh Hoover does or does not do in his private life, I can confidently say the images on social media are not real.

It all started with this completely fake photo that did not come from his Instagram story:

Here is the original image, as proof:

Purple waff. Pink fops. Pink kitty.

Social media ran wild with the fake Instagram story. Especially Baylor fans.

The jokes are endless.

It actually got to the point that college football fans are confused. There are so many posts about Josh Hoover being a furry that people started to believe he is actually a furry in real life. He’s not!!
