Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds is very lucky to be alive after getting shot twice last week. The 29-year-old was struck by a pair of bullets while being stalked outside of a strip club.

All of the involved parties were somehow able to keep this information under wraps until a report from Alexander Kirk of 9NEWS almost seven full days later.

According to court documents, Reynolds was shot once in his left arm and once in the back of the head. Another victim was shot in his back. A third victim was wounded by shattered glass.

A portion of southbound interstate 25 was shut down on Monday afternoon as police conducted their follow-up investigation related to a shooting last Friday. Kirk revealed on Thursday that the shooting directly involved Reynolds, who signed a two-year deal with the Broncos back in March.

911 was alerted of a shooting shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18. The initial caller was driving a blue Ford Bronco. Court documents note that he stopped responding to the 911 operator and sounded like he was running. A second 911 caller dialed in to say he was being followed. His two friends had been shot. A third caller said that shots were being fired in their direction.

Josh Reynolds was hit.

Officers responded to the scene and immediately started on their report after tending to those in need of medical attention.

The victims said they were at Shotgun Willies, Denver Metro’s most legendary strip club. (The same club where Ja Morant brandished a weapon in 2023.) They left around 2:45 a.m.

Upon their exit, two drivers followed the group in separate vehicles and fired the first shots. The suspects continued to follow them onto the highway, when their vehicle would no longer drive and forced them to run. They were not sure if they were followed on foot.

Josh Reynolds is currently on Injured Reserve after finger surgery. He obviously did not travel to New Orleans after this incident, which the Broncos managed to keep quiet this entire time. A formal update on his condition has yet to be announced but if he was in critical condition, it would likely be known by now.

Denver Police arrested two men in the case, Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza. Charlesworth told investigators that he was “helping” a friend who asked him to follow the victims because of a prior conflict. It is unclear as to what that conflict might be or if it involves the NFL wide receiver directly.
