The Seattle Mariners are 68-56 and positioned for a postseason run. World Series hopes were nearly derailed thanks to a Little League event worker’s slip and fall.

Julio Rodriguez’s knee was close to buckling after being hit at full speed during the tumble. Luckily, no Mariners were harmed in the collision.

The outfielder was on hand at the Little League World Series over the weekend. He was a crowd favorite!

Julio Rodriguez took on the LLWS hill.

Sliding down the hill that overlooks Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pennsylvania is a tradition undertaken by fans, players, and even big leaguers on hand for the annual tournament.

Rodriguez gave it his best shot on Sunday ahead of a showdown against the Mets.

Seattle and New York will face off in the Little League Classic to close out a three-game set. They’ll play the series finale in Williamsport after spending the two previous days in the Big Apple.

Players were able to take in the sights and sounds ahead of first pitch. It nearly resulted in disaster.

A LLWS worker collided with Rodriguez.

After sliding to the bottom of the hill, Julio Rodriguez almost got taken out by a Little League worker. The woman attempted to make her way down to greet the outfielder. Her momentum carried her into a nosedive with the target being Rodriguez’s knee.

Luckily, he was able to sidestep the potential disaster and avoid injury. Here’s another view of the tumble.

Rodriguez is undoubtedly one of the Mariners’ top players. He’s hitting .257 this season with 24 home runs and is a big reason for Seattle’s second place standing in the AL West.

An injury would’ve been a major shot to the club’s World Series pursuit. Thankfully, everyone was able to breathe a massive sigh of relief and laugh off the close call.
