Former United States men’s national team goalkeeper Kasey Keller has responded to the complaints of Christian Pulisic and Tim Weah over how they’ve been criticized by former USMNT players. Weah even went as far as calling them “evil.”
Last week, the latest episode of the PULISIC docuseries was released on Paramount+ and featured clips of both Christian Pulisic and Tim Weah whining about how they’ve been treated in the media.
The comments from Pulisic and Weah set off alarm bells within the USMNT fan base as it highlighted the very criticism that have been levied against them in recent years, and that’s that they’re generally soft.
This USMNT 🇺🇸 might never beat the soft allegations.
Whining about former players criticizing them, Weah even calls them “evil” 😂🤣, Pulisic’s dad coming after former players/pundits.
We are cooked in 2026.

Over the weekend, Keller — one of those former USMNT pros that Pulisic and Weah were railing against — responded to the pair and did not back down from his stance.
Former USMNT goalkeeper Kasey Keller responds to Christian Pulisic and Tim Weah
“I’m not asking you to have a great game every time you step on the pitch — we know that’s impossible. All I’m asking you is to show 100% commitment every time you step on the pitch, and I don’t think anybody watching the US national team over the last year can be honest with themselves and say that you’ve consistently seen a team that is giving 100% every time they step on the pitch,” Keller said on ESPN FC.
“You can find a few individuals and say, ‘Okay that wasn’t their best game,’ or ‘They did okay.’ But there was no edge to anything they’ve done. And I think I made a comment that it looked like in that semi-final for Nations League, half the team was more interested [in] sitting on the beach taking Instagram photos than being in this match. That might be a little harsh, but the point is, I’m not being individually mean. I’m looking at a collective effort that did not hold a standard. Again, you miss a sitter, you make a mistake — that’s going to happen. You can have an off day, your touch can be off. But you can always work hard, you can always tackle, you can always try. Effort should never be a question, and that has risen to the forefront.”
Keller also rebuked the duo’s complaints about their scrutiny given they’re putting themselves in front of cameras for a documentary.
“This is stuff that they’ve invented. They’ve gone on social media, they’ve had a docuseries, they’ve done all this,” Keller said. “You’ve invented this and you need content for this, so now you’re bringing up other stuff, and then you’re complaining that, ‘Oh I’m getting too much attention now.’ Then don’t. Just play.”
“This is stuff they’ve invented. They’ve gone on social media, they’ve got a docu-series … you’ve invented this.” 😯

The next games on the USMNT’s calendar are a pair of friendlies in early September against South Korea and Japan on September 6 and September 9, respectively.
