Major League Baseball reporter Ken Rosenthal, known for his try-hard habit of wearing a bow tie on the sidelines, has gone viral for his bizarre reaction to knocking over a cameraman during a postgame interview. Despite clearly being the one to cause the collision, Rosenthal shot a glare on the cameraman — who was knocked onto his butt and into the dirt — instead of helping him up to his feet.

The clip, taken on Saturday, September 13 following the Milwaukee Brewers walk-off win against the St. Louis Cardinals, sees Ken Rosenthal look at a cameraman with disdain after he (Rosenthal) barged into him (the cameraman) as he tried to escape the Brewers’ celebratory Gatorade shower.

The moment unfolded as the Brewers went to douse Andruw Monasterio in Gatorade after his walk-off hit secured a 9-8 Brewers win and resulted in the team becoming the first in the league to clinch a postseason birth.

“Everything about Ken Rosenthal screams ‘I’m a pretentious a–hole,'” read one viral response to the video.

“Oh my God dude f— Ken Rosenthal he’s genuinely just a piece of s— bro,” said another.

To his credit, on Monday, Rosenthal issued an apology while appearing on the Foul Territory show.

“I want to talk about what happened Saturday night, when I accidentally bowled over Scott Paulus, the Brewers’ team photographer, when I was getting out of the way of the Brewers dumping water on Andruw Monasterio,” Rosenthal said. “When I looked at the video, I was surprised at how upset I appeared. I was more confused than anything. I had to continue the interview. We were live, folks. On national television. Couldn’t stop,” Rosenthal explained.

“That said, I felt awful about what happened. Afterward I went up to Scott, who I worked with in pits before over the years, and I apologized. I apologized profusely. Because let’s face it— I don’t think that you ever expect knocking someone down is going to happen in any particular situation. So, yeah, sure, I apologized.”

Rosenthal, 62 years old, has been a field reporter for Fox Major League Baseball since 2005. He also was a reporter for MLB Network from 2009 to 2022 and has been a writer at The Athletic since 2017.
