The Florida baseball team’s season came to an end in the NCAA Tournament following a loss to East Carolina. Head coach Kevin O’Sullivan wasn’t frustrated with the way things were handled in the leadup to the game.

A scheduling change was made hours before first pitch of an elimination game. O’Sullivan reportedly lost his cool in a pregame tirade.

Video of an alleged conversation between the Florida coach and members of Coastal Carolina, the host site, was posted to social media Sunday night. A second then surfaced on Monday morning. Both showed O’Sullivan ripping into staff members after the unexpected adjustment.

The game was delayed by an hour. O’Sullivan didn’t believe his team was given enough time to prepare for the unanticipated shift.

Chanticleers head coach Kevin Schnall commented on the situation after winning the Regional on Sunday. He was disgusted by O’Sullivan’s actions.

Coastal Carolina wasn’t the only target for Kevin O’Sullivan’s anger.

He also took aim at East Carolina player Parker Byrd, according to online rumors.

Florida coach Kevin O’Sullivan was very upset with the schedule change for today. He ripped into the NCAA staff here in Conway. He also reportedly had things to say to the Pirates as they crossed the field this morning. Should be interesting.

Byrd became the second D1 player in college baseball history to play on a prosthetic leg last season following an injury suffered in a boating accident. After 22 surgeries and a lengthy rehab, he returned to the field for the Pirates, making an at-bat last February.

He’s often seen in the dugout holding a whiteboard while rooting on the team. O’Sullivan is rumored to have told him of an uncomfortable place to shove it before first pitch.

After the win, the Pirates posted a photo of the whiteboard on their social media sites. It seemed a direct response to O’Sullivan’s alleged disrespect.

Despite the negative attention, Kevin O’Sullivan remained unapologetic about his actions.

“I handled it properly,” he said of the tirade after the game. The Gators lost that contest, 11-4. It effectively ended the Florida baseball season.

East Carolina would advance to the NCAA Regional final before losing to No. 1 seed Coastal Carolina, 1-0.
