Saturday’s episode of ESPN “College GameDay” from Columbus, Ohio was supposed to be all about longtime host Lee Corso, who was retiring following a nearly 40-year run on the show.

Instead, much of the talk is about Kirk Herbstreit’s dog Peter, who first appeared on the show last season after Herbstreit’s other dog, Ben, tragically passed away.

The young golden retriever saw a moment to steal the show during Pat McAfee’s weekly kicking contest segment, and boy did he ever take it. Sadly, that was not the only thing that he took.

Peter Herbstreit Took A Poop On The ‘College GameDay’ Set During Kicking Contest

While McAfee was introducing the kicking contest participant, as well as talking to superstar actor Glen Powell, Peter decided it was a good time to relieve himself while on camera.

In the background of the show, he crouched down and did what dogs do, taking a fresh poop right there next to contest set. McAfee and Herbstreit couldn’t help but to laugh.

As it turns out, the poop must have been good luck, because the contestant, Logan Pallo, drilled his field goal to win $250,000.

Now, I gotta say, I am a dog lover. I grew up with dogs. I enjoy seeing dogs in places where dogs should be. Heck, I’d love a job that allows me to work with dogs one day.

But it is a little weird seeing Herbstreit’s dog all over the show. He was seen walking across the stage during earlier parts of the show, and now in the background of the contest.

Maybe Herbstreit has an undisclosed medical condition and needs the dog nearby. That would be justifiable. And hey, I get it if the dog is just an emotional support animal. But even then, could he maybe just hang out just off stage?

Hey, who knows? I’m sure Peter Herbstreit is a very good boy. But it’s a bit weird seeing just how much of the show he’s involved in.
