The Lane Kiffin to LSU rumors continue to heat up.

Earlier this week, LSU flew out Kiffin’s family members to tour Baton Rouge while attempting to court Kiffin.

On Tuesday afternoon, Kiffin appeared on the “Pat McAfee Show” to shoot down rumors that Ole Miss had given him an ultimatum to make a decision if he’s staying or leaving before the Egg Bowl.

“That’s absolutely not true, there’s been no ultimatum, anything like that at all,” Kiffin said. “And so I don’t know where that came from like a lot of stuff out there.”

According to a new report by Puck News’ Peter Hamby, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry says he spoke with Kiffin for two hours about the LSU job.

LSU / Lane Kiffin news: Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry continues to get personally involved in the Tigers coaching hunt.

At a political fundraiser in Baton Rouge tonight, Landry said he had spoken to Lane Kiffin “for two hours” about the LSU gig. But he also joked that @MattMoscona knows more about the job search than he does, per source in the room.

It is worth noting that Landry wields tremendous power over LSU’s coaching hire and was the one credited for firing Brian Kelly and running Scott Woodward out of town.

Throughout the season, Kiffin has refused to publicly speak about the rumors surrounding his future. Over the weekend, Kiffin scolded the media for asking him about the rumors.

“I love what we’re doing here,” Kiffin said. “Today was awesome. To even talk about [other jobs] right now would be so disrespectful to our players and how well they played today. We’ve got a lot of things going on here. Doing really well and I love it here.”
