LeBron James is opening up about his relationship with Michael Jordan. On Wednesday, James appeared on the Pat McAfee show to discuss various topics, including Stephen A. Smith, the media, and the current state of the NBA.

During his conversation with McAfee, LeBron revealed that he doesn’t currently talk to Jordan but hopes to sit down with him once he retires.

“Me and Michael Jordan are in a good spot,” James said on the Pat McAfee show. “We don’t talk. I think [it’s because] I’m still playing. I’m still focused on my craft right now.”

“We all know MJ. Even if you don’t know him personally, he’s one of the most ruthless competitors around,” Lebron said. “And till I’m done, and he doesn’t have to look at me run up and down wearing the No. 23, and every time my name is mentioned, it’s mentioned with his. He’s like, ‘I don’t f–king talk to you. Don’t talk to me right now. Do not call me.'”

LeBron spoke about Jordan being an inspiration for him growing up.

“I wear 23 because of MJ, the inspiration that he gave me as kid from Akron, Ohio that don’t have much inspiration in your hometown, you look at something. It has to beomebody in sports, somebody in music, somebody on the TV screen. Will Smith from Fresh Prince in Bel-Air, Michael Jordan playing for the Bulls, Jay-Z, Biggie, and Tupac.”
