Liam Payne’s former fiancee, Maya Henry, claimed mere days before he passed away that the former One Direction singer had predicted his own death.

During an appearance on Monday’s episode of The Internet Is Dead podcast to promote her new book (“which is based on liam payne’s abuse,” the podcast wrote in the description of the episode), Maya Henry said, “He would always message me ever since we broke up [saying], ‘Oh, I’m not well.’

“He would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m going to die. I’m not doing well.'”

Henry, 23, believed that Liam Payne would tell her those things as some sort of “manipulation tactic” because he was upset that they had broken up.

“There was one time I tried to get him help and then he was not taking it,” Henry continued. “He would text my mom, ‘I’m not doing well, have Maya contact me,’ because I wouldn’t respond. It’s just always the same cycle.”

Maya Henry’s book, Looking Forward, is classified as fiction, but does state that it is “inspired by true events.”

“From Dubai to Paris, London to Coachella, Mallory finds herself desperately in love with the former boy-bander despite fame, attention, and personal demons that threaten them both,” the book’s description reads. “As their fantasy love affair goes from private intimacy to public meltdown, Mallory learns the pain and heartache when your love goes from girlhood fantasy to real life drama.”

Maya Henry also told The Internet Is Dead podcast that Liam Payne called her mother around the time she was working on her book and said, “I’m not going to be around much longer.”

“I don’t play with death,” Henry said. “If you say this, I’m going to try and help you no matter what you’ve done. I think he took advantage of my family’s kindness.”

She claims Payne’s behavior had recently “gotten so much worse.”

“He would always just say, ‘I’m so sorry for everything I’ve done. I can’t live with myself,’ but then is continuing to try and traumatize me,” she claimed.

“I know the lifestyle he lives, and there is a day when something bad is going to happen, so I would always be like, ‘Okay, he’s saying these things, I have to help him because if I don’t, I won’t be able to live with myself if something does happen to him,'” she added.

According to People, Liam Payne was “extremely overwhelmed” by legal issues related to Maya Henry in the time leading up to his death.

Henry had reportedly issued a cease-and-desist order last week to Payne after she claimed he was repeatedly contacting her.

Maya Henry also shared a TikTok video on Oct. 6 detailing what she said were some of the lengths Liam Payne had gone to in trying to reach her.
