An LSU cheerleader is under fire on social media for shoving an unsuspecting Ole Miss football player during a game between the Tigers and Rebels.

The incident came late in the second half of action with the Tigers looking to complete a comeback effort in the fourth quarter.

LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier connected with tight end Mason Taylor for a first down. The pass catcher’s elbow touched the ground as he attempted to advance the ball up the field, but that didn’t stop him from making a beeline towards the endzone.

As Taylor ran for paydirt, an Ole Miss defender trailed him looking to make a tackle.

He’d catch up to the tight end at the last possible second before his momentum carried him into a group of LSU cheerleaders.

One of those Tigers was seen shoving the defensive back before taunting him on the sidelines.

A closer look shows the point of contact more clearly.

The play wouldn’t spark much of a reaction from Rebels safety Trey Washington, the man that was pushed into the camera crews down near the endzone.

It wasn’t the only shove to make waves in the SEC over the weekend.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart also caught flak for pushing Mississippi State QB Michael Van Buren on the sidelines during a win over the Bulldogs.

In that case, no flag was thrown, though SEC commissioner Greg Sankey says the action warranted one. Smart appears to have skirted any punishment from the league following his apology to the MSU player.

While Mason Taylor would be ruled down at the spot of his catch, LSU would later score to send the game into overtime. The Tigers then threw a touchdown pass on their first offensive play of the session to win, 29-26.
